- Extensive experience presiding over Board and Committee meetings -- David has chaired meetings from
Plan of Organization portions of State Executive Committee, a meeting of NC delegation meeting at National Convention, numerous
County Party and Young Democrats meetings, Community College Board meetings, local downtown development Board meetings and
countless civic and Church committee meetings. Although David knows and uses Robert’s Rules as a parlaimentarian for
meetings, he is committed to using a Parliamentarian for major Party meetings, believing that an objective viewpoint can be
invaluable.
- Business experience delegating, hiring and firing staff within a budget -- David has run a multi-million
dollar statewide campaign, runs a law office with other lawyers and associated staff, and managed commercial and residential
real estate properties, as well as the experience managing the business affairs of clients. In addition, he currently serves
on the Budget Committee of the Iredell Statesville School Board which has an annual operating budget of $120 million.
- Fund-raising
experience and ability at both the Trustee and grassroots levels -- Sanford, 1992; numerous local campaigns. If there was
ever a good time to raise money among Democrats, it is now.
- North Carolina family traditions -- Born and raised in
Raleigh, educated at UNC-Chapel Hill (Phi Beta Kappa) and UNC Law School; married with three children – two in college
and one working in Charlotte. Presbyterian Elder. Eagle Scout.
